About Madison Cellars
Madison Cellars Vineyard and Winery typifies the next generation winery.
Owners Margie and Jon Korecki built their estate vineyard with the youthful exuberance of a Gen X family, while maintaining respect for tradition and the land they are using. In their sustainably farmed vineyard the Korecki’s wanted to demonstrate the versatility of the Paso Robles region and made the commitment to produce both Bordeaux and Rhone varieties.
Jon’s focus has been among the vines, believing strongly that the quality of the wine is driven by what happens in the vineyard. “Our goal is not to mold nature into a consistent monotony of singular flavor, but rather to express the season as manifested in the grape. We strive to bend to the needs of the grapes and develop our winemaking program accordingly.”
This is why our mission statement and devotion to wine is written on the back of every bottle:
To work in harmony,
To forge the elemental union of man and nature,
To unveil the ultimate expression in mans hand,
This….is our passion.
What’s yours?
About Jon and Margie Korecki
The Koreckis grew up on the coast of Connecticut near the town of Madison. The pure image of the quintessential rural New England town has remained with them and now lives on their label. They wanted those memories to be reflected in the new life that they were about to build and in the wines that they would create.
Jon, who studied at UC Davis and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, has been making wine for more than 10 years. Much of that experience came while living in San Diego where he found himself struggling to make wines from grapes sourced in Southern California. It became obvious that the terroir expressive fruit he needed was further north and to continue his passion he would need to move.
After evaluating many winegrowing regions Jon and Margie realized that Paso Robles would not only fulfill the conditions he wanted for creating great wines, but also the conditions they wanted for creating a great life.
